1st Pakistan Battalion
Formal raising of 1st Pakistan battalion was announced with the 80 x cadets in 1st Pakistan Military Academy Long Course on 24 Jan 1948. The cadets were organized into two companies namely “KHALID” and “TARIQ” which were raised on 26 Jan 1948. Brig F.H.B. Ingall (4th Nov 1947 – 1st Dec 1950) addressed the cadets of 1st Pakistan Battalion on 26 Jan 1948 which marked formal commencement of training at PMA under 1st Pakistan Battalion with motto as “Faith, Unity and Discipline”. In Mar 1948, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah honored the Battalion with his own title “Quaid-i-Azam’s Own”
2nd Pakistan Battalion
2nd Pakistan Battalion was raised on 1 Dec 1965 to meet the ever increasing requirement of officers in army. Its four companies were progressively raised from Dec 1965 to Jan 1966. All the companies were named after renowned Muslim Generals of the Sub-continent.
3rd Pakistan Battalion
3rd Pakistan Battalion was raised on 8 Apr 1989 after disbandment of Officer Training School in 1988. General Mirza Aslam Baig , NI(M) ,SBt, the then COAS , inaugurated the battalion. Batallion stayed at Tobe Camp for 10 years before moving to main the then campus in Dec 99. 83rd PMA long course was the first course to join academy as first term..
4th Pakistan Battalion
The latest milestone in the history of PMA was raising of 4th Pakistan Battalion. The ground breaking ceremony was held in July 2014 by Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif,NI (M), of this state of the art campus. The four companies raised in 4th Pakistan Battalion were named after Officers, recipient of Nishan-e-Haiders; Aziz Bhatti, Akram, Shabbir Sharif and Sher Khan.
